KUALA LUMPUR: Despite their planned maiden Malaysian concert still about three months away, K-pop group Big Bang is already “drawing” crowds here.
Thousands of fans from all over the country came to the Fahrenheit 88 shopping mall to purchase tickets for the “Big Bang Alive Galaxy Tour 2012” Malaysian concert, scheduled for Oct 27 at Stadium Merdeka.
A fan Tey Ching Ee, 26, arrived as early as Friday from Malacca and queued up overnight to make sure she was first in line to buy the tickets.
“Big Bang is one of the few Korean acts who write their own music and lyrics,” she said.
Maxine Ng, 20, from Sabah, said many fans could relate to Big Bang through their songs.
“As members of the band freely pour out their life experiences in their songwriting, many listeners can relate to them on a personal level,” she added.
Iefa Athifah Ieda Mestika, 20, from Johor, could not wait to see the band in their fashion-forward ensembles.
“They have such an amazing sense of style. I cannot wait to see them work their dance moves in those trendy costumes,” she said.
Big Bang, which comprises G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung and Seungri, took the music industry by storm in 2007 when their first singleLies reached number one on the Korean charts and remained for seven consecutive weeks.
But the boys’ unique hip hop and R&B-influenced music style is not the only thing fans are looking forward to in the upcoming show.
Besides making history as the first-ever outdoor concert held across Asia, the band’s one-night-only performance is estimated to cost more than RM4mil.

The show is organised by Running Into The Sun, with 988, Red FM and Suria FM as official radio stations.
