Skirting around: five ways to do it this winter

Wrap, sheer, mini, split or midi: the only ways to wear this winter’s style essential

Take your pick: the carpet mini, the sheer (Photo: Catwalking.com), the wrap, the split or the midaxi

1. Carpet mini

When shopping for a mini skirt this season, how it feels is just as important as how it looks. Whether it’s an embroidered tapestry number or a shaggy mohair mini, touchable tactile textures make the most of very little fabric. This cosy-looking option from Sportmax Code wins extra points for its on-trend Sixties A-line shape — and for looking great with tights. (£115; Max Mara, 19-21 Old Bond Street, W1)

2. Sheer

Sure, it may not be the obvious trend for winter — mainly because it must be worn with bare legs — but the sheer skirt is one of the season’s biggest catwalk heroes. Topshop’s high-end Unique collection for one championed a host of barely-there styles, from delicate lace slips to intricately embroidered tulle. If you’re going to brave it, be sure to pile on the layers. A long-line knit, thick socks and stomping ankle boots are just for starters. (From a selection from £155, topshop.com)

3. Wrap

If you thought there could be no substitute for a pencil skirt in your working wardrobe, then you’re yet to discover the virtues of a wrap skirt. The style that dominated spring in micro-mini proportions has taken on longer, more office-friendly lengths this winter, making it likely to become one of the most worn items you buy this season. This simple belted version from Zara’s Studio line is a perfect example of its demure yet directional capabilities. (£39.99, zara.com)

4. Split

Split skirts and eveningwear are natural bedfellows. But a thigh high isn’t for everyone. Instead opt for modest multiple splits when cocktail hour comes calling, such as this jazzy cranberry-hued sequin number from ASOS’s Christmas collection. Team with a sloppy jumper for a Saturday night at the pub or slip on the matching top to be the best dressed at the office party. (£75,asos.com)

5. Midaxi

Longer than a midi but shorter than a maxi, the midaxi (see what we did there?) wins the season’s most interesting hemline award. Intrigued? Head to COS to take your pick from a host of minimalist, elongated styles or snap up this pocket-pleasing rib-knit option from Warehouse sharpish. A word of warning though: the tricky length renders flats near impossible to pull off. Team with chunky heeled boots for a far more flattering result. (£38, warehouse.co.uk)

[NEWS] G-Dragon adapts perfectly to the ‘Infinity Challenge’ style! (120930)

G-Dragon‘s highly anticipated ‘Infinity Challenge‘ episode was aired on the 29th. In the episode, he relentlessly destroyed his image with cheap fashion and comical face expressions, fitting in perfectly with the other ‘Infinity Challenge’ members.

GD with Ha Dong Hoon
In the episode, G-Dragon played the rookie recruit Kwon Ji Yong. He appeared at the ‘Infinity Company‘ interview with some flashy fashion and confident talking style. He confidently answered questions and surprised the ‘Infinity Challenge’ members with his wit and quick responses.  To Park Myung Soo‘s question, “Doesn’t your stomach hurt because Psy is doing so well?” He answered, “Does your stomach hurt?” He was also asked common sense question such as, “Do you know the bus fare?” and “How much is 20kg of normal rice?” He answered confidently that he didn’t know the answer to either questions, but gained Park Myung Soo’s favor because of his confidence.

GD with Jun Hyung Don
However, his confident charm did not last long. He took the coaching advice from Jung Hyung Don on fashion and ended up with large glasses, a shaggy wig, and high waist pants. He also fulfilled the request for him to open his eyes wide and stare up into the ceiling to only reveal the whites of his eyes to make the others laugh.
G-Dragon went as far as throwing around toilet paper and his own body away for the sake of laughter, showing an image that was far away from his usual charismatic self on stage.

The 2nd part of G-Dragon’s episode on ‘Infinity Challenge’ will air next week on October 6th. But until then, enjoy the episode below!:~

G-Dragon and T.O.P show off contrasting looks, "Dandy vs. Punk" [PHOTOS] Posted by vic on September 10, 2012

Big Bang members G-Dragon and T.O.P departed to Shanghai, China on the 8th from the Incheon International Airport. The two stars left to attend a fashion show there.

G-Dragon and T.O.P both showed off stylish fashion but with complete opposite concepts. T.O.P wore a black trench coat and a hunting cap for a dandy look, while G-Dragon wore a shirt with holes on it and a beanie for a punk look.

After the photos of the two stars were posted online, G-Dragon’s tattoos on his hand and chest became a hot topic, as the netizens tried to find the meaning behind them. There seemed to be a tattoo of letters on his chest and the tattoo on his hand read ‘XX SMILE’.

G-Dragon was also seen receiving letters and gifts from the fans and he was seen holding them in his hands until he entered the departure area.

Seungri's Interview from Nishinippon Posted by rice on August 29, 2012

In Asia, Big Bang has excelled in the area of music, fashion and arts. We have interviewed the youngest member VI whose Japanese really impressed us.

Q) This is the album (ALIVE) that we had been anticipating for a long time. It's been said that you put in a lot of efforts in producing it!
VI: This is an important album that we worked on for a whole year. ALIVE, the title of our album means 'living'. Although we faced things that seemed unbearable, with the concerted efforts of the five members and thinking that "this is the last time", we made this album. Among all the songs, Fantastic Baby is special since we had the assistance of VERBAL-san (a producer) and were able to produce a song with good sense. The lyrics are very good too.

Q: It seems that from music production to your looks, you design them all with your own hands.
VI: Leader G-Dragon's strength lies in composing songs and writing lyrics. We have our own fashion designers but we do also give our own opinions. Our president YG does not say, "do this, do that." He gives us quite a lot of freedom to do the music that we love and wear the clothes that we want. He respects us as artists.

Q: Your group is quite different from the current K-POP style, which places emphasis on uniform dancing and looks.
VI: Our group consists of members who have distinctive characters and unique strengths. We can express our opinion freely so we produce brand new music from time to time. It is really a delightful thing! We don't really practice and the longest session usually lasts for 3 hours. If our body is exhausted then our brains will be tired too. If we are in this state, then we will not be happy when we are performing on the stage. Big Bang really loves performing on stage so when the members gather together, we discuss about "today we do this, tomorrow we will do that" or "I think these clothes really suit you." So with our hearts pounding and an excited mood, we feel very happy when we are performing. It's like we're intoxicated. I want to convey this kind of intensity to everyone.

Q: How do you keep your physical and mental power?
VI: It is our strength too if we are physically healthy. Good athletes also pay attention to their body conditions. We work out every day and we have our own trainers. Moreover, it is important to sustain the fitness. It is not workable if our body conditions fluctuate.

Q: Is there anything exciting happening in your daily life?
VI: Films and sitcoms. I have the dialogues of Umizaru almost memorized now. After watching 'Rookies', I now know how to talk like a bad boy. (Laughs) However, I am learning how to speak formal Japanese since it is important for me to accumulate my life experience.

Q: What are the secrets of the popularity of Korean artists?
VI: Koreans are usually impatient people who change their mobile phones like once every month. The pace of changes is so fast. The rankings on music charts change weekly or every 3 days. Because of this, the artists are really hardworking. However, this is only one circle of world music. If we want to jump out of the boundaries of KPOP, we have to grow up by exchanging our ideas with international artists. American and European DJs and producers have voiced out their desire to collaborate with us, so we hope to mature.

G-Dragon's Everyday Tattoo Fashion [NEWS/PHOTO]

“Are you wathing, Donnie?” …GD, his ordinary tattoo style.

“Fire hair, seaweed hair, gore fashion…”

Group ‘Big Bang’ has always received public attention. It is fun not only to listen to their new music, but also to watch their new style. Among others, G-Dragon is the fashion icon of Bigbang. He is considered best fashionista in Idols. The clothes which he wore, the shoes on which he put have always been major issues.
Then how about his style in daily life? Expectably, STYLISH~

The pants covered his knee, the high socks with star pattern. Who would dare to try wearing these style?
At the beginning of June, this was him on Rodeo street in Apgujeong. It’s a place where hot people go. Most people just can’t attract other people’s attention. Of course, G-Dragon, can. His unique fashion, can.

That day, G-Dragon’s fashion was ‘funky’. His pants struck the eye of many people. Long-short black pants with white cross stripes on the upper part and high socks with white star pattern. No one could try wearing these style except for GD.

But the point of that day was his tattoos. He had letterings on his both arms. On his right arm, he also had heart tattoo by Keith Harig who is graffiti artist. And there was dragon ball on his left shoulder. It means his name, G-Dragon.

His act of freedom was also unconventional. He spent time alone without the other members. He wasn’t conscious of public eyes, he passed Rodeo street in Apgujeong naturally. And he met his friends and talked to them with his bright smile.

Nowadays Bigbang has had their world tour in Japan and met fans. And next month, they will hold their world tour in 7 cities around the world. We hope that 2012 will be ‘fantastic’ and ‘monster’(good meaning) to them.
