T.O.P : "We only cast sexy girls in our music videos" Posted by sfuza14 on September 28, 2012

This was rapper T.O.P’s (also known by his real name Choi Seunghyun) reply to Singapore Channel 8 actress Ann Kok when she asked if there was any chance that BIGBANG would feature her in a music video.

The petite 39-year-old had stood up to profess her love for the five-member superstar group from Korea during a press conference hosted by Samsung yesterday. The lengthy spiel that dragged into the Q&A session was a mix of English and Korean, which the actress was said to have been practicing right up to the final moments before the event.

“This is very embarrassing for me, but I want to take this chance to greet BIGBANG and YG Entertainment, and to say how much I really love BIGBANG,” said Ann Kok before listing BIGBANG’S more decadent qualities.

“In future, can I feature in your music video?” the local celebrity finished off to a mix of whoops and groans from the lucky fans who’d won Samsung’s contest, as well as members of the press.

G-Dragon (or Kwon Jiyong), BIGBANG’s trendsetting leader, was the one who spoke up first.

“The opportunities are always there. But you have to audition like the rest,” he said diplomatically before T.O.P explained the criteria for becoming the leading lady to YG Entertainment’s music videos.

And to that, the cheeky vocalist Taeyang quipped, “But you can give T.O.P your number!”

Fangirl moments aside, the 30-minute Q&A session revealed a little on what BIGBANG has been up to since they were last together for their Alive Tour concert in China.

The group, which won Best Worldwide Act at the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards, made a 45-minute appearance at 1-Altitude restaurant at Raffles Place. The event was attended by around 50 members of the press, local celebrities and a select group of fans who had won contests organised by Samsung, presenter of the BigBang Alive Galaxy Tour 2012.

Singapore is the first stop in the South-east Asian leg of their first-ever world tour, which will take them to Bangkok, Jakarta, Taipei, Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong. They will also perform in Los Angeles, New Jersey, Peru, Brazil and London. The concerts are being produced by Live Nation, with Lady Gaga Monster Ball choreographer Laurieann Gibson as creative director.

When asked about his heavily-cast arm, T.O.P replied, “I hurt my hand while filming an action movie and had to go for surgery, but I know that Singapore is really looking forward to the concert so I will do my best.”

Light-hearted questions like who the members would switch bodies with amongst themselves were thrown about. According to G-Dragon, who naturally seemed to have assumed the role of spokesperson at the press conference, the members have been asked this a lot and their answer remains the same; that they won’t switch bodies with each other because they love themselves too much. When someone offered the ubiquitous question about their favourite local food, Taeyang exclaimed, “Chili crab! And black pepper crab!” though it’s hardly likely he’s tried either.

BIGBANG was also asked about the group’s synergy throughout the tour so far.

“It’s been less than a year since we embarked on this world tour but we continue to learn more about ourselves and our relationship with each other. We’re all growing in terms of music and also as human beings,” G-Dragon, who currently sports a multi-coloured coif as part of a new look to promote his second solo album 'One of a Kind'.
